Marc Borbas is the Vice President of Talent Solutions for Glacier Resource Innovation Group. He is responsible for Careermine and Edumine, online solutions that help mining companies hire, develop, and retain talent and knowledge and help individuals realize their career goals in the mining industry.
In his role, Marc works with professional associations, HR teams, and subject matter experts to create engaging professional learning and development programs for geologists, engineers, and business professionals.
With over 20 years of experience in the software and online services industry, Marc has developed dozens of professional training programs and hundreds of training events aimed at a variety of learner types and roles.
As Managing Director of Glacier Resource Innovation Group and Publisher of The Northern Miner Group, Anthony has overall responsibility for some of the mining industry’s most distinguished media brands including: The Northern Miner, Canadian Mining Journal and MINING.com. He also oversees essential industry data and education brands such as EduMine, CareerMine, Costmine and Mining Intelligence. Anthony holds the CFA designation, has an MBA in Investment Management and serves on the Boards of the Resource Innovation Group and The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame.
Jeff Geipel is the founder and managing director for the Mining Shared Value initiative at Engineers Without Borders Canada. This initiative works to improve the development impacts of mineral extraction in host countries through increasing local procurement by the global mining industry. Through this work Jeff is also the Community Manager for the World Bank’s Extractives-led Local Economic Diversification Community of Practice.
Before Engineers Without Borders Jeff was the founder and first executive director of Fair Trade Vancouver, which became a model for municipal-based fair trade organizations across Canada. Originally from Vancouver, Jeff holds a master’s degree in international development from the London School of Economics in the United Kingdom. Jeff currently resides in London.
Having completed her PhD at Imperial College, Sarah went to work as a Geologist for Anglo American. She was lucky enough to live and work all over the world in a variety of functions from exploration through to sustainability, risk management and assurance.
Sarah co-founded Satarla in 2014 which provides risk management consultancy, training, and research to organizations from sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, charities, finance, together with petrochemicals, energy, oil & gas, and mining. In recent years, this has focused on integrated risk management with a focus on Environmental, Social and Governance risks.
Sarah is an honorary lecturer at Imperial College London and Research Associate at the She is currently leading the team designing the new IRM Climate Change risk management training course. Voted as one of the top 10 most inspirational women in mining in 2016, she is also a trustee of Geology for Global Development and co-founder of Responsible Raw Materials. In 2020, Satarla were shortlisted for a CIR Magazine award for ESG Initiative of the Year, recognizing Satarla’s work on ESG to date, and are winners of the award for Specialist Risk Management Company of the Year.
